Feast of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton

On the feast day of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, January 4th, we remember her for her dedication to the spiritual life of Louise de Marillac and Vincent de Paul. In the 1850s, the Emmitsburg community of the Sisters of Charity took steps to merge with the Daughters of Charity and start the first American branch! When she was beatified by Pope John XXIII on March 17, 1963, Pope John made the following statement “In a house that was very small, but with ample space for charity, she sowed a seed in America which by Divine Grace grew into a large tree.”
